| Notes from Japan by Blake Austin The first time you met Doug, you couldn't help but notice how big and strong he was. The first time I met Doug he was having lunch at a restaurant near Takashimaya Department Store where Kumiko worked at the time. My brother Scott and I were seated at a nearby table. Scott, who knew Doug pretty well, leaned over to me and said "Watch Doug. He's going to order one more lunch." Sure enough, he ordered another lunch, much to the suprise of the waitress who asked him to confirm that it wasn't just another drink or side dish he wanted. Just think, everytime he wanted to eat out he had to pay double...and if he were on a date, he'd have to pay triple! In some ways, living in Japan was perfect for Doug. Everything was in jogging and biking distance and he could combine his love for exploring and traveling with his passion for health and fitness... continued on What's New Page |
